Company history

The company was founded as a partnership by Lothar Herrmann, Gotthold Schur and Karl-Heinz Wenzelburger on 01.04.1974 when initially six colleagues exclusively produced and developed deep hole drills with soldered cutting heads. The conversion to a plc under the current firm name followed in 1976.

Deep hole drills were specifically designed to achieve results in serial operation, which made the customary fine machining of the day, for example through drilling or grinding, redundant. Drilling to a similar level of quality had not been possible with any other tool in only one operation until then. At a time when industrial demand for deep and precise drilling was rapidly growing, this was a decisive advantage for a product to have.

The company has grown consistently since it was founded. Our range of products ie. work tools, has also continued to expand over the years. International marketing, or rather service centres, have also been founded.

Today botek is an internationally active deep drilling tool supplier with around 500 employees worldwide. Our core business is based on internally cooled tools for all deep drilling systems with diameters from 0.5 to 700 mm. This matched with our experience in the field of deep drilling, helps us to advise our customers according to their individual requirements in terms of the range of services we offer before, during and after purchasing our tools.

botek is at the cutting edge of technology. The specialisation of deep drilling tools, as well as their processes, are being successfully continued in the second generation.
